This is because antibiotics kill bacteria in the body, and unfortunately, some of the bacteria that is killed is the good bacteria in the vagina.
What causes the lack of natural lubrication are fluctuations in estrogen levels, which are affected by all of the instances above. A personal lubricant can help correct vaginal dryness, however, if you think you may have a yeast infection, you should see your doctor before trying any over the counter medication. Do not use a personal lubricant if you suspect a yeast infection.
There are many kinds of personal lubricants that can help with dryness during any of those times, and most are over the counter, but some are available by prescription only, like vaginal lubricants that contain estrogen. Depending on your preferences, you can buy a personal lubricant that comes as creams, oils, suppositories, or as a smooth bodyglide.
